The E415 is a food additive known as xanthan gum, used in sauces, dressings, confectionary, and beverages, also used in gluten-free foods. This widely used substance was studied by scientists at NMBU, showing that xanthan gum has an influence on the gut microbiota since it’s a complex carbohydrate which don’t have similarities to the food people usually consume. Thus, affecting the bacteria in the intestines, which are essential for health. And while avoiding xanthan gum, it’s also a good note to consume enough probiotics for a healthy gut.
